Training and Implementation



For many EHRs the cost of training and implementation can represent nearly fifty percent of the total initial expense. For that reason, training becomes a negotiation item and an area to save a few dollars. The reality is that EHR training and implementation requires planning, organization and a commitment of time from both staff and providers. The other reality is that a poorly implemented system will cost the practice significantly more in the long run.

Change is difficult. The implementation of an EHR is not simply teaching staff a new computer system and walking away. Effective training includes the ability to disseminate knowledge in a way that is meaningful and memorable to the student. Effective implementation includes the ability to manage fears, understand processes, recommend change and incorporate those suggestions into the existing workflow. HuTech’s experienced staff has the knowledge and ability to support this phase whether providing the direct training or managing the overall process. 
  • Organized training is critical. Their initial impression of the system can make or break staff and provider buy-in and have a lasting affect on the effectiveness of the EHR.
  • Despite the best efforts of strategic planning and pre-implementation design, understand that all practices need to adjust processes during and post-implementation.
